Owned jointly by Flagler County and the Town of Marineland, River to Sea Preserve is a prized addition to Flagler County's unique and beautiful preserves, Beginning at the beach of the Atlantic Ocean and reaching west to the Matanzas River (Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway), the River to Sea Preserve protects a rapidly disappearing maritime scrub environment.
Still under development and restoration, the 90 acre preserve offers walking trails, nature vistas, ecological education opportunities as well as public access to the beach. Visit our beachside boardwalk for a majestic view of the beach and ocean. Our canoe and kayak launch provides access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Matanzas River.
Visitors may wander though oak scrub and hardwood hammock on the west side A1A, enjoy a picnic lunch at the pavilion or at an overlook on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Bird and plant life abound. Early morning visitors may glimpse a white-tail deer.
The River to Sea Preserve is located on both sides of highway A1A at Marineland. The Preserve is just one of the five beach access parks in Flagler County. The county’s beach parks all offer off-beach parking and all have facilities.
Bicyclists, rollerbladers, and walkers all rave about Flagler County’s unique bike path stretching from Marineland at the north county line 19 miles to the Volusia County line in the south. The bike path shadows A1A which has been designated as a National Scenic Byway and a Florida Scenic Highway. Starting at the River To Sea Preserve the bike path glides through a coastal hammock canopy of trees and along the coastline with unobstructed vistas of the ocean. It also connects to a network of 37 miles of additional bike paths maintained by the county and cities.
